FALLies!

Welcome Fall! I love you summer, but sadly you are just not as fun and relaxing now that I'm a grown up. I'll never forget you and I already can't wait to see you next year! But for the time being, I am so excited about hanging out with autumn! Here are just a few of my favorite fall things:

  • mellow-creme pumpkins
  • aggie football
  • changing leaves
  • school supplies
  • scarves and sweaters (in stores...not on the body in texas!)
  • cooler weather
  • Christmas music (don't even try and tell me its too early)
  • Halloween candy, costumes, and decorations
  • pumpkin spice lattes
  • the return of my favorite tv shows (modern family, how i met your mother, parenthood)
  • my husbands birthday!!!

In other news I got a promotion at work this week :) I am officially a 'manager' and hope I do a good job! And Michael got nominated to go to this special lunch thing at work with some of the big wigs! Go Pookie!

We have a Cargill family reunion coming up in Saledo which means lots of food and fun and then a cruise shortly after! Can't wait!

Last Sunday was our one year anniversary :) I was going to do a big post with pictures and stories and tales of what we've learned our first year of marriage but basically I can say it all in 1 sentence-

I LOVE MICHAEL ALLEN CARGILL WITH ALL MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every day is an adventure and I have fallen more and more in love with this man each time I see him. I am so blessed to come home from work and see my best friend and have him hug me, kiss me, encourage me, and make me laugh. God made us for each other- I have no doubt in my mind about that. So we may not be perfect...but we are perfect for each other.

I am the luckiest girl in the world!

and here's our newest addition! Meet Landshark- the most mischievous but lovable puppy around! People laugh at the name but WOW does it suit him! He never sits still for more than 2 seconds, he'll run circles around the couches, he jumps up on everything (more like a cat than a dog) and if he can get his mouth around it it will be chewed.....we're hoping that last habit goes away REALLY soon. He's such a sweet little boy though and loves to cuddle- when he's not chewing on big brother Rudy. Landshark is whipping Rudy into shape though!

In other news work has been really stressful for both Michael and I lately- please pray for patience and a good attitude for us towards the jobs that we are so blessed to have. I can't wait for us to not be the 'new' kids anymore- everyone with a little more seniority seems to have it a little easier and seem to never be stressed. I guess we all gotta pay our dues!

This summer has been pretty good so far as Michael and I both got to see another dream come true- WE GOT A BOAT! she's a 1991 ski boat and runs great! We weren't going to start looking until November but this was too good a deal to pass up. The previous owners were mechanics so everything in the boat is new or souped up. They got rid of it because who really needs a 20 year old ski boat when you have a new 40ft cigarette boat? We can't wait to take it again and start bringing friends out with us.

We went on a short little vacation this weekend to the fabulous city of LAS VEGAS! We went with Michaels parents and michael's brother and his girlfriend. Overall it was a good trip- short and exhausting- but fun. I'm glad we got to see all the sights but neither of us are big gamblers and the shows were so $$$! I think we literally walked for 24 hours fighting traffic and people handing out dirty fliers. I would have loved to go see a Cirque de Soleil or something...we'll just have to catch them the next time one comes to Houston.

Thats basically the last 3 months in a blogshell.... all in all I'd say our first 'adult' summer has been pretty great :)

Thanks for stopping by-

drumroll please.......

WE GOT A PUPPY!!! His name is Landshark and the name suits him. He'll hunt down stuff we didn't know we had. He got super sick about a week after we got him and we weren't sure he was gonna make it but it looks like it was just an upper respiratory infection. We saved him from the pound so we're not sure exactly what he is but he bounces like a jack russell terrier and follows his nose like a beagle...therefore he is our little Jack Reagle :)

We want a baby....a dog baby!

I'm guessing I'm not going to be very good at this blogging thing...it never hurts to try though right?

Our lives for the past couple months have been work and sleep..and working on our house on the weekends. Its not too exciting but things are good and we can't complain :)

Michael has been enjoying work at Oxy more and more- and they put him in charge of a pretty big project the other day! He found out about 30 minutes later that it would be fiscally ridiculous so they put the kabosh on the whole thing, but all in all I think he did pretty good on his first big project! My job is going pretty well, I LOVE the people I work with so even when it gets really stressful (daily) or I get yelled at by builders for something that is not our fault (daily!) we still have fun.

House work...if you know Michael you know that once he gets an idea he has to see it out to fruition before he'll take a breath. So we've installed an attic access door in our garage and put flooing and a light up there. We also put french drains in this weekend! Our yard wasn't draining very well and we always had puddles of water along the fence- but no mas! Michael and his dad did an AMAZING job of getting that done in one day. And if you don't know anything about french drains, let me tell you they are not easy to install! Especially when there is no dirt, just clay. We've also hung the porch swing that Michael built on our front porch so we can enjoy this beautiful weather we've had lately.

In other news, Michael and I are thinking its about time Rudy had a little sister! So we're looking for puppies that need a home and are gonna go visit the pound soon. We're also looking for names so if you have any suggestions feel free to send them our way!

We've had lots of visits with family (mine and michaels sides) and have gotten to see some friends but things are definitely different. We're missing college station and will hopefully go back for a weekend soon! Ya'll should come too!

First Blog!

Hey friends! So the Cargills finally had a few minutes to sit down and relax and this is what i chose to do with my time :)

We are officially happily married (yes, its official), 1 month out of college, moved into our new house, and working our new jobs! All in all its been a pretty crazy 6 months! Michael is working as a chemical engineer for OxyChem and is liking it so far; he's working for the same guy he interned with two summers ago and has no new names to learn so I'm pretty jealous! I started as an inside sales rep for Wisenbaker builder services last monday and I'm excited to finish with training and get set up on my accounts!

Our sweet son Rudy is getting very spoiled being an only child...maybe a little too spoiled! We went to dinner tonight and came back home to a little mess that he made when he threw his temper tantrum.

On another note, our sprinkler pipe burst who knows how long ago. I only know because our neighbor (who is not the most social guy) came over this afternoon and informed me that our pipe was flooding his yard. Luckily Michael got home soon after that and was able to save the day (and our water bill!) . We are beginning to understand the joys of being a homeowner....seriously we love it though! Pictures of the house to come soon!
